About Us

Our passion is to share what we love with the people around us. In our case, that happens to be delicious foood and cocktails.

Amanda

Amanda began her culinary career attending the culinary program at the Art Institute of Vancouver. Her love of baking and pastry accelerated her into owning her own bakery, Edible Flours, at the age of 27 in Kitsilano. She will now be using her customer service skills to run the front of house team.

Husband and Wife Duo

It all began with a chance encounter on a dating site, where our mutual love of food bonded us and jump started our dream of owning a restaurant together. On our honeymoon, the idea of the Maplewood Smokehouse began and a year later we are now seeing our dream come to fruition.

Jesse

Jesse has been a chef for 20 years, working in various different styles of restaurants. His love for BBQ began at a restaurant in Vancouver called Peckinpah, where he worked as the Head Chef. He’s super excited to bring all the tasty things he has learned over the years to Chilliwack to begin a brand new food legacy.

  • Jesse fell in love with BBQ while working at a smokehouse in Vancouver. We also realized that there is a gap in Chilliwack’s restaurant offerings where BBQ food is concerned.

  • Amanda’s Dad grew up in Chilliwack, and moved the family back there when she was 4. Amanda moved away when she was 19 to travel the world and then eventually settled in Vancouver to attend culinary school and open her own Bakery. During their honeymoon in Harrison, Amanda and Jesse had brunch at the Little Beetle and decided that they wanted to move back to Chilliwack and open a restaurant.

  • Our mission has always been to provide the best food and experience we can to the people around us. Our goal as owners is to provide a safe and warm environment for our staff, where everyone feels equal and valued. We understand work will always be work, but we want to make it as enjoyable as possible. Our mission as customer service experts is to make our guests feel at home and provide them with the best BBQ experience possible.
